After a lawsuit was filed against PepsiCo for labeling its line of Naked juices “all natural,” the company agreed to pay $9 million and to stop using that term in its advertising.
The lawsuit claimed that the Naked juices’ “added boost of vitamins” were actually synthetic ingredients, “including a fiber made by Archer Daniels Midland,” the Associated Press reported in a July 2013 story. PepsiCo did not respond to those allegations, but said it would cease using the term “natural” for the line of Naked juices, which include “Green Machine” and “Mighty Mango,” until there was more regulatory guidance on its usage.
ABC News reported that customers who had proof of purchasing the qualifying juices between Sept. 27, 2007 and Aug. 19, 2013 could apply for part of the settlement by Dec. 17, 2013.
