Location: Columbus and Lombard. Was there ever a cooler cop than Frank Bullitt? Unlike Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry, who came on the scene only three years later, Bullitt carried no political baggage, other than his distaste for grandstanding politicians. He’s just doing his job—but he gets to wear a nifty sport coat over a turtleneck sweater. Bullitt featured one of the great car chases of all time, and it was shot on real San Francisco streets using real cars, including Bullitt’s Forest Green Mustang. McQueen even did some of his own stunt-driving.
