Location: Chinatown. Based on the best-selling novel by Amy Tan, The Joy Luck Club tells the story of four Chinese women who immigrate to San Francisco, and the four daughters who are born there. While focusing on these relationships, the film also portrays life in San Francisco’s vibrant but often insular Chinatown community.
