Rio Tinto's Chief Lawyer Jumps to Legal Outsourcing Company
The legal chief of mining company Rio Tinto is moving to a legal outsourcing company, CPA Global.
Leah Cooper, who is managing attorney of Rio Tinto, will become a member of CPA’s legal outsourcing board, focusing on strategy and development, Legal Week reports.
Last year, Cooper struck a deal to outsource much of Rio’s low-level legal work to CPA lawyers in India, the story says.
CPA started out as an intellectual property renewal service, but expanded to legal outsourcing in 2005. About half of its clients are corporations and the other half are law firms, including Eversheds and Clifford Chance, according to Legal Week.
