Aspiring law profs face tough job market
Newbie lawyers aren’t the only legal professional facing a tight job market.
The market for entry-level law professors “has constricted dramatically” since 2011, and legal educators don’t see a likely full recovery in the near future, the National Law Journal (sub. req.) reports.
Since 2011, the number of new law professors hired at ABA-accredited law schools has dropped nearly 55 percent. In 2014, only 70 people obtained tenure-track teaching jobs, compared to 155 in 2011. University of California at Irvine law professor Sarah Lawsky compiled the data.
During the same four-year period, the number of law students dropped nearly 28 percent, the article reports.
