Merger will produce 'global legal powerhouse' that will be called HSF Kramer

Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel announced plans Monday to merge with Herbert Smith Freehills, creating a “global legal powerhouse” law firm with more than $2 billion in combined revenue.
The new firm will be called Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer globally and HSF Kramer in the United States, according to a Nov. 11 press release.
The combined firm will have more than 2,700 lawyers in 25 offices, including 640 partners globally; 120 partners will be in the United States.
Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer will be fully integrated with a “single global profit pool,” according to the press release. It will be among the 20 largest firms by head count and among the top 20 integrated firms by revenue.
Kramer Levin has offices in New York, Washington D.C., the Silicon Valley and Paris. Herbert Smith Freehills has 23 offices in locations that include Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and North America.
The merger is subject to partner approval.
