2025 CALL FOR NOMINATIONS TO COMMITTEE ON SCOPE AND CORRELATION OF WORK

One member of the Committee on Scope and Correlation of Work will be elected for a five-year term commencing at the conclusion of the 2025 Annual Meeting and expiring at the conclusion of the 2030 Annual Meeting. Scope was created by the House of Delegates, with a mission to study “the structure, functions and work of the sections, committees and other agencies of the Association and to make such recommendations to the House or the Board of Governors as it considers appropriate to correlate the work of the Association as a whole and provide better use of the Association’s resources.” Interested candidates should submit an electronic copy of your general professional resumé, a resumé of your ABA activities and a cover letter to Carri Kerber ([email protected]) no later than Friday, March 28. Nominees will be informed of the Nominating Committee decision by June 2025.

AMENDMENTS TO THE ABA CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS

The ABA Constitution and Bylaws may be amended only upon action of the House of Delegates at Annual Meetings. The next Annual Meeting of the House of Delegates will be Aug. 11-12 in Toronto. Proposals to amend either the Constitution or Bylaws may be submitted by any ABA member. For a proposed amendment to be considered at the 2025 Annual Meeting, it must be received electronically by the Policy and Planning Division. Proposed amendments should be addressed to the attention of the ABA Secretary and submitted directly to [email protected] by March 6. 2025 MIDYEAR NOMINATING COMMITTEE BUSINESS SESSION, CANDIDATES FORUM AND VOTING SESSION

The Nominating Committee will meet in conjunction with the 2025 ABA Midyear Meeting at 9 a.m. MT on Feb. 2. The Candidates Forum will immediately follow the business session, and association members are invited to hear from candidates for president-elect, chair of the House of Delegates and secretary who will be seeking nominations at the 2026 Midyear Meeting. After the Candidates Forum, the Nominating Committee will meet in executive session to nominate candidates for election by the House of Delegates.

GOAL III MEMBERS-AT-LARGE ON THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE FOR THE 2025-2028 TERM

The ABA president will appoint one Goal III Minority Member-at-Large and one Goal III Woman Member-at-Large to the Nominating Committee for the 2025-2028 term. These appointments will be made from broadly solicited nominations from the diversity commissions, sections, divisions and forums; state and local bar associations; and the membership at large. Members who are interested must submit a letter of interest and a resumé to [email protected]. The deadline for submission of credentials for consideration for these presidential appointments is May 16.

2025 DELEGATE-AT-LARGE ELECTION

Pursuant to Section 6.5 of the ABA Constitution, six Delegates-at-Large to the House of Delegates will be elected at the 2025 ABA Annual Meeting for three-year terms beginning with the adjournment of that meeting and ending with the adjournment of the 2028 Annual Meeting. Candidates for election as Delegate-at-Large are to be nominated by written petition. The deadline for filing nominating petitions is Friday, May 16. SCOPE VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Please be informed that there will be three vacancies on the Committee on Scope and Correlation of Work. The vacancies include:

  1. A five-year term commencing at the conclusion of the 2025 Annual Meeting and expiring at the conclusion of the 2030 Annual Meeting
  2. A three-year term commencing at the conclusion of the 2025 Annual Meeting and expiring at the conclusion of the 2028 Annual Meeting
  3. A one-year term commencing at the conclusion of the 2025 Annual Meeting and expiring at the conclusion of the 2026 Annual Meeting
