“I think the biggest piece of advice I would give myself if I was starting out in the field is to not wait. Take the plunge. To be successful in the field of technology and law, you need to take chances. Technology moves so fast that by the time you feel like you understand a situation fully, it’s about to change. There are people out there who want to help you. Research and get involved with an accelerator or an incubator in your area. These aren’t just places people go to get funding; these are places that have people who are experienced with the nuts and bolts of implementing a business and the hundred little things that you need to stay on top of to be successful. [And] don’t be afraid to learn a bit of programming. There are websites like Codeacademy that can quickly give you a basic understanding of tools like JavaScript in a number of hours.”
