St. Jude Medical has had some headaches as a result of its Wi-Fi-enabled pacemakers.
The company long denied that its devices were vulnerable to hackers and in 2016, parent company Abbott Laboratories sued researchers and medical device investors for defamation, alleging that they were spreading lies about the devices in order to drive down the company’s stock.
In 2017, however, after the FDA issued a warning about St. Jude’s security vulnerabilities, the company issued a patch to fix the problems.
