The Stevens Hotel opened when Stevens, standing in front of his brothers Bill, Jim and Ernie, was 7 years old. Stevens’ father, Ernest, is at the far left; his mother, Elizabeth, is at the far right; and his grandfather James W. Stevens and grandmother Jessie Stevens also look on. The hotel, pictured here in a floral frame, was built on Chicago’s Michigan Avenue.
