Location: Saints Peter and Paul Church, and Washington Square Park. Barbra Streisand and Ryan O’Neal star in Peter Bogdanovich’s homage to the screwball comedies of the 1930s. The scatter-brained plot involves spies, misplaced suitcases and a free spirit (Streisand) who sets her sights on a staid musicology professor (are there any other kind?) played by O’Neal. The action unfolds in a variety of San Francisco locations, including the North Beach neighborhood, which is anchored by Washington Square Park, traditionally the center of San Francisco’s Italian community.
