Birth control becomes a hot-button issue during the 2012 Peep-sidential campaign.
The Hearing: Georgetown University Law Center student Sandra Fluke is excluded from testifying before the Oversight and Government Reform Committee regarding insurance coverage for contraception. Thus an all-male, all-religious panel was left to debate the issue. Some Peeps think maybe at least one female, non-religiously-affiliated, pro-contraception Peep should have been given the opportunity to speak.
The Aspirin Solution: A 71-year-old donor to candidate Rick Peeptorum’s campaign helpfully offered an inexpensive solution: “gals” can just “put [Aspirin] between their knees.”
The Personal Attack: After Fluke eloquently testifies at an unofficial hearing, conservative commentator Rush Peepbaugh launches a personal attack against Fluke, calling her a “slut” and a “Peep-stitute.”
The Boycott: Public outrage over Peepbaugh’s comments leads dozens of advertisers to pull their ads from Peepbaugh’s show.
