The use of cloud computing in solo and small law firms is on the rise. According to the 2017 ABA Legal Technology Survey, 56% of solo to nine attorney firms are using the cloud, which has increased by 21% since 2014.

Small law firms experience big benefits with the cloud including easy browser access from anywhere, continuous availability, low cost of entry, and predictable monthly expense. They are able to access critical information, documents, and tools anytime, anywhere. As a result, they’re able to better serve their clients and compete with more firms.

However, the report goes on to note that the biggest concern with cloud computing is security. Many worry that storing their data in the cloud makes them more vulnerable. To overcome this concern, attorneys need a basic understanding of cloud security and how to determine which environment is best for storing their data.

In our popular Cloud Computing for Small Law Firms whitepaperwe dive more into the benefits of using the cloud and discuss how to choose a secure cloud for legal work.
