Law School Admission Council names its next president and CEO
Sudha Setty, who’s currently the dean of the City University of New York School of Law, will serve as the Law School Admission Council’s president and CEO effective July 1.
Previously the dean of the Western New England University School of Law, Setty succeeds Kellye Testy, who became the executive director of the Association of American Law Schools in July 2024. Susan Krinsky will continue to serve as the LSAC’s interim president and CEO until Setty takes office.
“Sudha’s accomplishments and skill set as a dean and faculty member fit well with the aspirations of LSAC in its next chapter,” said Marcilynn Burke, the dean of Tulane Law School and a co-chair of the search committee, in a Jan. 6 press release.
While serving as the dean at both schools, Setty focused on social justice and public-interest lawyering and increased access to legal education.
“As the first South Asian American woman to serve as dean of an ABA-accredited law school, I am particularly attuned to the fact that we must collectively do more to support those who have been historically excluded from leadership roles,” she said in the press release.
She is a member of the ABA Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar.
While at CUNY Law, she led the expansion of Pipeline to Justice, the law school’s signature access program, and the founding of the First Impressions Youth Legal Collaborative that engages middle school, high school and college students in questions of civics, law and justice.
“Sudha has a compelling vision for LSAC and will inspire us all to even greater achievements,” said search committee co-chair Rebecca Scheller, the chief administrative officer and the associate dean of admission at the University of Wisconsin Law School, in the press release.
