Zuckerman Spaeder has decided to close its Miami office after four out of five partners there jumped to Carlton Fields.

The decision was announced in a press release, the Daily Business Review reports. The lawyers who will be joining Carlton Fields are managing partner Walter Tache; partners Michael Pasano, Stephen Bronis and Thomas Meeks; and of counsel Paul Calli.

Zuckerman has only one office remaining in Florida, in Tampa.

Pasano told the Daily Business review that the group wanted to move to a firm with an emphasis on Florida law. Carlton Fields—with offices in Tampa, Miami, Orlando, St. Petersburg, Tallahassee and West Palm Beach—offered that opportunity, he said. “I think for a while we had been thinking about looking to have a different platform for our practice—specifically a Florida firm with offices in Miami, Tampa and elsewhere,” he said.

Carlton is also interviewing Zuckerman’s seven Miami associates.

Three Zuckerman lawyers have moved to another firm, Akerman Senterfitt, in the last 18 months. Among them was the office’s then-managing partner, Ronald Ravikoff, earlier this year, the story said.
