A Chicago-area minister says Drew Peterson’s wife blurted out that her husband killed a former wife, raising questions about whether the hearsay rule would permit such testimony in court.

Rev. Neil Schori told Greta Van Susteren of Fox TV that Stacy Peterson said her husband Drew killed third wife Kathleen Savio, the Chicago Tribune reports. Savio was found dead in her bathtub in 2004. Stacy Peterson disappeared Oct. 28.

Peterson’s lawyer, Joel Brodsky, said there are “a lot of problems” with Schori’s story.

CNN legal analyst Sunny Hostin said the information could be admissible in court under exceptions to the hearsay rule, according to a transcript published for the program American Morning.
