Would-Be OJ Publisher Settles With News Corp.
Former book publisher Judith Regan, fired after her decision to publish a book by O.J. Simpson called If I Did It, has settled a lawsuit she brought against Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp.
Regan, who claimed sexual discrimination and breach of contract, had asked for $100 million in damages when she filed the suit in November. Later, reports surfaced that Regan had made anti-Semitic statements to lawyers at HarperCollins, a claim Regan has denied.
However rancorous their dispute, the parties would only say they reached an amicable settlement, with details kept under wraps, The Book Standard and Los Angeles Times report.
“After carefully considering the matter, we accept Regan’s position that she did not say anything that was anti-Semitic in nature, and further believe that Regan is not anti-Semitic,” News Corp. said in a statement.
And from Regan, “I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with so many gifted people and am looking forward to my next venture.”
