WilmerHale hires new diversity director
Nimesh Patel, who headed the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s diversity program, has joined Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr.
An attorney who graduated from Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, Patel serves as WilmerHale’s diversity director, the National Law Journal reports. In addition to developing a diversity and inclusion plan for the firm, Patel plans to work with clients to promote diversity in the profession.
“I think the most critical part of success in diversity and inclusion is having leadership commitment,” Patel told the National Law Journal. Approximately 17 percent of WilmerHale attorneys are minorities, according to the article.
His work will also focus on recruitment, mentoring and career development for diverse attorneys.
Patel, who also has a MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and is a former National Asian Pacific American Bar Association president, replaces Kenneth Imo, now the diversity and inclusion director at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.
