White-Collar Team Defects to Arnold & Porter from Arent Fox
Three white-collar criminal defense lawyers from Arent Fox left last week to join the Washington, D.C. office of Arnold & Porter.
Partner John Nassikas III had chaired its white-collar defense and government investigations practice group at Arent Fox and will head the white-collar group at Arnold & Porter, the Blog of Legal Times reported. He had been at Arent Fox for 15 years and was assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia for five years before that.
Nassikas told the Blog of Legal Times that he was drawn by Arnold & Porter’s wide variety of practices and international presence.
“This was a real opportunity to expand our practice and handle the biggest, toughest defense cases worldwide. For white-collar people such as myself, that’s the next frontier—worldwide criminal defense work,” Nassikas told the blog.
Joining Nassikas is partner Baruch Weiss—who also spent time as an assistant U.S. attorney as well as with the Treasury Department and Department of Homeland Security—and counsel Laura Lester.
