This summer, Chicago Public Radio station WBEZ rolled out a segment on its Morning Shift program called “The Movie that Made Me,” in which interesting people are interviewed about that one movie that had a huge impact on them.

In June, Chicago lawyer John A. Goldstein was interviewed. His movie? Raiders of the Lost Ark.

“I saw this film and I said: ‘I have to see the world,’” Goldstein told host Tony Sarabia. “And it’s taken me to some phenomenal archaeological sites. Actually, two years ago, I went to see the site of Babylon in Iraq, which was incredible.” Goldstein says he’s been to about 140 countries.

So this week, we’d like to ask you: What movie changed the course of your life? Did a courageous character in a film inspire you to stand up for your rights or somehow give you permission to be who you really wanted to be? Did a legal movie inspire your career direction? Or was there a particular movie you saw on a date that sent you down a path with the love of your life?

Posted by Joanne: “Yes, I play some video games and am playing Pokemon Go. My almost-19-year-old son plays it. It provides us yet another opportunity to interact and have fun together. He’s even come to my work two times for lunch in the past few weeks because he wanted to come downtown to catch some water Pokemon. I treasure any time I can spend with him these days!”

Posted by Jay Hurst: “Absolutely, really, really violent video games. Nothing vents a bad day like some 2-D mayhem with impunity. I’m 46, by the by.”
