An 18-attorney West Coast litigation boutique has opened an office in a Boston suburb.

New name partner David Freniere, who focuses his practice on securities matters, will head the new Wellesley office of Markun Zusman Freniere & Compton, the Boston Business Journal reports.

One other lawyer currently works there, and Freniere is looking to add two more lawyers to the Wellesley office by the end of the year. Markun Zusman is headquartered in California, where it has offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco. The firm also has an office in Portland, Ore.

For 20 years, Freniere was deputy general counsel and oversaw litigation at LPL Financial, a Boston brokerage. Then, after 6 months running his own firm, he said he was ready to go back to a bigger operation where he could regularly interact with colleagues.
