Va. Tech Massacre Dials Up Gun Control Debate
Even as bodies were still being counted in America’s worst on-campus shooting ever (the death toll, as of this posting, is reportedly at least 21, and possibly as many as 31, with another 21 injured), the carnage at Virginia Tech from two separate shootings today was prompting grassroots discussion of possible gun-control legislation.
Comments on The Moderate Voice Web site alternately called for more restrictive laws against citizen possession of handguns and questioned whether they would do any good.
Meanwhile, gun control was the topic of the day at the University of Utah, a state which – unlike Virginia – has relatively permissive gun laws, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
