UK Study: No Law-Abiding Majority

We hear a lot about the law-abiding majority. But, in fact, it doesn’t exist, a recent United Kingdom study found.

Neither greed nor need can explain why the middle class–AKA the “fiddle” class–is so unattuned to traditional moral standards. But some two-thirds of those surveyed have cheated businesses, the government or their employers, and a third wouldn’t hesitate to keep the change if it was too much, reports the Daily Record, a Scottish newspaper.

The Centre for Crime and Justice Studies report also projects that such offenses will soon outpace property crime. It concludes: “The lawabiding majority not only do not abide by the law, they also do not believe in the value of laws and rules, shrugging them off in pursuit of their interests and desires.”
