UK Solicitor Shot at Desk in Law Office Is In Critical Condition

An unusual attack on a lawyer working at his desk in a British market town left other residents stunned and solicitor James Ward, who was shot in the head and airlifted to a Bristol hospital, in critical condition fighting for his life.

A 62-year-old builder who lost an expensive case in which the shooting victim’s law firm, Morris Goddard and Ward, represented a former client of the builder has been charged with attempted murder. Defendant Michael Chudley reportedly lost his home in a foreclosure earlier this year.

Chudley also faces additional counts related to his alleged possession of a sawn-off shotgun and alleged threats made to a staff member of the law firm, according to the Daily Mail, the Telegraph and United Press International.
