A 31-year-old Dallas lawyer will be the first African-American lead on the Bachelorette TV show.

The lawyer, Rachel Lindsay, is an associate at Cooper & Scully and the daughter of U.S. District Judge Sam Lindsay of Dallas, report the New York Times and Law.com (sub. req.). She is a 2011 graduate of Marquette University Law School.

Lindsay handles commercial litigation and personal injury defense, according to name shareholder Brent Cooper, who spoke with Law.com. She joined the firm last year from the Willis Law Group in Dallas.

Lindsay is among the contestants on the current Bachelor show and will be the Bachelorette on the show that begins on May 22. The announcement of her new role was announced on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

ā€œIā€™m ready to find love, find a husband,ā€ Lindsay said.
