Firm that Produced 'Mr. No' is Top Choice for Legal Malpractice Defense
When law firms find themselves in the hot seat, an increasing number turn to Mark Foster.
The 66-year-old partner of Zuckerman Spaeder has seen his caseload increase significantly over the past six months, as he adds to the Washington, D.C.-based litigation boutique’s growing reputation as a go-to firm for legal malpractice defense, reports the Legal Times. Its article is reprinted by New York Lawyer (reg. req.).
Last year, Foster had six such cases; this year, he already has six new legal malpractice matters on his plate. Unlike many practitioners in this field, he and his firm also represent legal malpractice plaintiffs, too.
He and others say there appear to be more legal malpractice claims being made, perhaps due in part to the difficult economy, the Legal Times writes in a lengthy article on Foster and his firm.
Foster started his legal career at the D.C. Public Defender Service after graduating from Harvard Law School. He says it took him years to develop his malpractice specialty, which now accounts for about half his practice (counseling firms on ethics, disciplinary and partnership matters accounts for the other half).
“My current practice came very slowly,” he tells the legal publication. “You deal with enough cases involving law firms and one thing leads to another.”
