Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman and Chadbourne & Parke have reportedly called off exploratory merger discussions.

Two anonymous sources tell Bloomberg BNA’s BigLaw Business that the talks are over. One source said the discussions never got beyond the preliminary stage. Above the Law noted the report.

David Dekker, the chair-elect of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, told the National Law Journal (sub. req.) last week that he wouldn’t deny contact between the law firms. But the firm is not currently working on a merger, he said.

“We are always open to discussions, and it’s a topic which is considered by the board and by the executive team,” Dekker told the National Law Journal. “But there is nothing right now that I anticipate you would see a merger in the next three or four months.”
