The Best D.C. Law Firms for Lateral Landing
Three Washington, D.C., law firms are in a good position to weather the economic downturn, making them good places for job-hopping lawyers as lateral recruiting season heats up.
Legal Times identifies the three firms as Crowell & Moring, Arnold & Porter and Covington & Burling. The publication based its assessment on interviews with legal recruiters and consultants who said a handful of D.C. firms are particularly desirable places for laterals.
One consultant told the publication he anticipates Crowell & Moring will announce a number of new hires over the next month or two. Asked for comment, partner Scott Winkelman confirmed that the firm is adding lawyers and said its financial services practice will expand “within weeks, if not days,” the story says.
Arnold & Porter chairman Thomas Milch told Legal Times his firm is seeking lateral lawyers in practice areas including litigation, health care, financial institutions and some corporate areas. “In the next few weeks, I’m hopeful we will have some announcements,” he said.
