Thacher Proffitt Offices for Lease
A venerable New York law firm apparently may be on the brink of closing its doors. Thacher Proffitt & Wood, which has lost about 100 attorneys during the past year, mostly through layoffs, is now offering its offices for lease, reports Crain’s New York Business:
“On Thursday, the firm listed its five-floor World Financial Center headquarters for sublease, an indication that it plans to vacate the premises. The firm abandoned its four other floors over the summer and fall, according to Bloomberg reports.”
The 150-year-old law firm now has about 200 attorneys on its roster. Atlanta-based King & Spalding reportedly may take in about half of the Thacher Proffitt attorneys, as discussed in an earlier ABAJournal.com post.
