Tatum O'Neal: 18 Hours in Jail 'Wasn't That Horrible'
Actress Tatum O’Neal puts a positive spin on her experience of being arrested and jailed, for the first time, for 18 hours this week, after she alleged bought crack cocaine from a street dealer on Sunday.
“I slept on a mattress with a couple of ladies because I was tired. And they were nice! And I thought the thing that was cool about New York, no special treatment. No special cell,” O’Neal tells a New York Post columnist. “It wasn’t that horrible. I think it’s worse for the people that don’t have a lawyer to get them out.”
An admitted alcoholic, she says she has been depressed about the death of an elderly pet dog and is grateful the police arrested her before she had a chance to break her sobriety.
