Superstar QB Lawyers
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick is assembling a superstar legal team to fight federal dogfighting charges.
Vick pleaded not guilty yesterday.
Vick’s legal team now includes William Martin, who leads the white-collar criminal defense practice at the Washington, D.C., office of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan, the American Lawyer reports. Martin has represented New Jersey Nets forward Jayson Williams and basketball players Juwan Howard and Chris Webber.
The legal newspaper quotes anonymous sources who say another lawyer contacted about working on the case is former federal prosecutor Ronald Machen of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr. Another lawyer on the team is Atlanta attorney Daniel Meachum.
Vick’s longtime lawyer is Lawrence Woodward Jr. See this ABAJournal.com post for information about his practice.
