Sullivan & Cromwell Ranked Best Law Firm for Adoption Policies
Sullivan & Cromwell has taken top honors for adoption-friendly policies among law firms and other business-service firms in a ranking by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
Sullivan & Cromwell offers up to 18 weeks of paid leave to adoptive parents and $7,500 to defray expenses, the AmLaw Daily reports. Second on the list is Alston & Bird and fifth is Arnold & Porter. Alston & Bird pays $7,000 and gives 12 weeks of paid leave while Arnold & Porter offers $5,000 and 12 weeks of paid leave.
The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption ranks the top adoption-friendly workplaces and breaks out winners by categories. The foundation said in a press release that Sullivan & Cromwell’s generous policy ranked it No. 1 for adopt-friendly workplaces in the category of firms that offer consulting, accounting, legal and business services. The firm was ranked 30th on the list of all workplaces with adoption-friendly policies.
Sullivan & Cromwell started a benefits race of sorts when it began offering 18 weeks of paid maternity leave last July. But Sullivan and some other law firms went further by offering the same benefits for adoptive parents, the AmLaw Daily story says.
