Simpson Sidelight: Offshore Accounts??!!
A lawyer for the family of a man O.J. Simpson was acquitted of murdering more than a decade ago was electrified by a minor detail in the current armed robbery case against the former football superstar.
In a tape reportedly made shortly after the Las Vegas casino hotel room incident last week, in which sports memorabilia that Simpson contends was his own was allegedly stolen, a man identified as sports memorabilia dealer and claimed robbery victim Bruce Fromong can be heard. “I stood up for him in the press! I stood up for him on the stand! I helped him set up his f****n’ offshore accounts!” he exclaims. Now David Cook, a lawyer representing the family of murder victim Ron Goldman, is “salivating” over that last statement, reports TMZ.com, which links to an audio clip of the comments.
That’s because Goldman’s family won a $38 million civil judgment against Simpson in a wrongful death case which is still largely uncollected, as discussed in a previous ABAJournal.com post. Describing the audio clip as a “game-changer,” Cook says: “It has us fixated,” according to the celebrity news and gossip blog. “If it’s there, it’s gonna be ours,” the attorney adds.
