Sheppard Mullin Lures Lawyers Away from Bigger Firms
At a time when legal jobs are difficult to find, Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton is hiring several partners from larger law firms.
On Monday, the firm announced it is hiring corporate partner Brian Weimer from Latham & Watkins and real estate partner Pamela Westhoff from DLA Piper, the National Law Journal reports.
Earlier this month, Sheppard Mullin hired corporate partner Todd Bissett from the Beijing office of O’Melveny & Myers, the story says.
In a written statement, Sheppard Mullin chairman Guy Halgren said the firm’s strategy is to add “marquee partners and groups.”
Earlier this year, Sheppard Mullin laid off about 25 lawyers. Some of the departures were for performance reasons and some were “true layoffs” made in response to the economy, according to reports at the time.
