Sentencing for David Cassidy drunken-driving case is delayed again
A day at the Saratoga racecourse put onetime teen heartthrob David Cassidy crossways with a judge in a New York drunken-driving case, and it appears that the actor may still be paying the price.
After learning from a tweet by track officials last year that Cassidy, who had asked not to be required to travel from his Florida home to enter a plea, was in the state for a sporting event, Schodack Town Justice Bruce Wagner refused to excuse him from being present at sentencing. On Wednesday, the former Partridge Family television sitcom star was supposed to be sentenced, but, for the seventh time in seven months, the hearing has been rescheduled, reports the Albany Times Union.
District Attorney Joel Abelove said the delay this time was due to a lack of information from Cassidy and his lawyer about where he will perform his community service and the vehicle on which an interlock device, intended to prevent the person behind the wheel from drinking and driving, will be installed.
A plea agreement calls for Cassidy, who is now 63 years old, to perform 50 hours of community service.
He was sentenced last year to complete three months of alcohol rehabilitation and five years of probation in a California drunken-driving case, as the Associated Press reported at the time.
