SEC Plummets in Best Federal Workplace Rankings; DOJ Gets Ninth Place
The lawyers and other employees who work at the Securities and Exchange Commission are more dissatisfied with their jobs this year, according to new “Best Places to Work” rankings of federal workplaces.
The SEC was in 11th place last year, but this year it plummeted to the 24th spot on the list, the Washington Post reports. According to the newspaper, lawyers, accountants and other employees at the agency “are still recovering from a restructuring that started last year with the appointment of Chairwoman Mary Schapiro; the replacement of about a dozen senior managers; and a turnaround in culture.”
The rankings of 290 federal organizations are compiled by the nonpartisan think tank Partnership for Public Service. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission was ranked No. 1, followed by the Government Accountability Office, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., the Smithsonian Institution and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
The U.S. Justice Department was ranked No. 9.
