H. Rodgin Cohen has been a lawyer with Sullivan & Cromwell for nearly 40 years and the firm’s chairman for nine years.

Now the “banking lawyer extraordinaire” is being considered for the job of deputy Treasury secretary, according to the Wall Street Journal Law Blog. The Washington Post and Reuters also ran stories saying Cohen is a possibility.

The financial meltdown has kept Cohen busy, the ABA Journal reported in January. Cohen and his partners advised or drafted deals for at least six financial players during “a blitzkrieg of economic implosions and financial fixes.”
