Reporter Finds Bloody Knife at Triple Murder Scene After Cops Investigated
A reporter for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution found a bloody knife at a home on Monday, just hours after police completed an investigation of a triple murder there.
Reporter Rhonda Cook had gone to the neighborhood to interview people about the crime and saw the knife under a chair on the front porch, according to the Associated Press and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Cook called her editor and didn’t touch the knife, AP says.
DeKalb County police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said the police department will investigate the apparent oversight and take appropriate action.
A mother and her two children were stabbed to death at the home in Lithonia, Ga., about 20 miles southeast of Atlanta. Police have charged the woman’s 21-year-old son with the murders.
