U.S. Attorney General William Barr chatted with protesters Saturday who gathered outside his home to urge that former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee, be locked up.

A Department of Justice official told an Associated Press reporter that Barr went outside his home to greet the crowd and explain the DOJ’s general role in investigations, the AP reporter said on Twitter.

USA Today and Newsweek have coverage.

Barr shook hands with protesters and posed for photos with them, the official said.

Photos of the protest posted online show that about a dozen men were at the protest carrying signs reading “Biden Lies Matter,” “Equal Justice Is Coming” and “They that forsake the law praise the wicked.”

President Donald Trump has repeatedly accused Biden of corruption in connection with his son, Hunter Biden, without offering proof. Hunter Biden was formerly a paid board member with a Ukrainian gas company, Burisma Holdings. A former Wall Street Journal report said Hunter Biden was paid as much as $50,000 per month.

Trump suggested in a phone call to Ukraine’s president that he investigate Joe and Hunter Biden. The phone call and Trump’s delayed military aid for Ukraine led to the president’s impeachment.

A recent New York Post story suggested that Joe Biden had directed foreign policy while he was vice president to benefit his son, the New York Times reported. The story was based on what the New York Post said was an abandoned laptop once owned by Hunter Biden that was delivered to the paper by Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.

The New York Post reporter who wrote much of the article reportedly refused to allow his byline to be used because of concerns about the credibility of the information.

The Wall Street Journal reported that its review of records of a Hunter Biden associate showed no role for Joe Biden, according to the New York Times.
