Proskauer Partner Publishes Novel About 'Death, Guilt and Regrets'
A labor and employment partner at Proskauer Rose has published a novel, and it’s not a typical legal thriller.
The Careerist reports that the book, written by lawyer Neil Abramson, is about “death, guilt and regrets.” The Novel, Unsaid, tells the story through the eyes of Helena, a veterinarian who died but cannot move on. Her surviving husband, a lawyer, tries to save a chimpanzee scheduled for a research experiment, according to the book website.
Abramson told the Careerist that he tackled his fears in the story, written mostly during his commute to and from work.
“I am married to a vet, and once we got married, we moved to a house with all these animals,” he said. “It wasn’t until my wife had a health scare [in 2002] that I realized that these are my animals too. At the time we had 20 to 30 animals—dogs, cats, horses, rodents, pigs, fish—and we had a serious conversation about how I would deal with them if something happened to my wife.”
