Police want to speak with disgruntled client after divorce lawyer is killed

Police are investigating the killing of a New York divorce lawyer found dead in his New York City office Thursday.
A cleaner discovered Charles Zolot, 65, in his office at around 6 a.m. Thursday morning. The New York Daily News reported that Zolot had been beaten to death, while the New York Post reported that Zolot also had stab sounds.
Zolot practiced family law and also handled bankruptcy cases.
Police reportedly wanted to speak with a disgruntled client, as well as a relative of Zolot’s, according to WABC, CBS New York and the New York Post.
Lawyer Mark Drucker, who had an office in Zolot’s building, told CBS New York that legal assistants heard a loud argument around closing time Wednesday.
Drucker also spoke with WABC.
“As a lawyer, you’re always afraid of some clients that could get really upset with you, and we’re living in a very crazy time when people get very agitated very quickly,” he said.
Zolot is a graduate of Syracuse University’s law school.
