One of Philadelphia’s best-known law firms has planted its flag in Silicon Valley.

Pepper Hamilton announced Tuesday that three intellectual property partners from Goodwin Procter have opened the firm’s new Redwood City, Calif., office, the Philadelphia Business Journal reports. The 500-attorney law firm currently has two other offices in the state, in Los Angeles and Orange County.

Partner Gregory S. Bishop will head the new office, and partner Thomas F. Fitzpatrick will serve as a co-chair of Pepper Hamilton’s intellectual property litigation practice. The third partner in the group is Andy H. Chan.

“These were the guys we wanted, and we’re really excited to get this done,” Pepper Hamilton CEO Scott Green said of the firm’s acquisition of the group. He called it a major strategic goal for Pepper Hamilton, the article reports.
