Paul Hastings to Pay Top Dollar of $160K to New Atlanta Associates
Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker in Atlanta is beating its rivals to the punch with the announcement it will pay first-year associates $160,000 starting Feb. 1.
The amount is $15,000 more than the pay that most first years receive at the large Atlanta firms, according to the Fulton County Daily Report. The most experienced associates will get $215,000. Last year the firm paid a starting salary of $130,000.
Rafaelle Murdocca, the managing director of BCG Attorney Search, told the publication he doubted other Atlanta firms would match Paul Hastings’ pay. “Considering the economy and that associates are being laid off in the mortgage-backed securities business, it’s unlikely that other firms in town will raise again. There have already been three raises in two years,” he said.
