Pa. Firm Plans for Up to 50 New Lawyers in Philly
A well-known Pittsburgh-based law firm is reportedly making plans to increase its attorney roster in Philadelphia by 50 percent, signing a lease for first-class center city offices that will provide space for an addition 30 to 50 attorneys.
Although Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney has agreed to lease three floors at Two Liberty Place for 12 years, it is still a year away from actually making a move from its current offices at 1835 Market to the new location, reports the Legal Intelligencer in an article reprinted by New York Lawyer (reg. req.).
Howard Scher, who serves as managing partner of the firm’s Philadelphia office, said it is expected to grow from 100 to 150 attorneys, largely by amping up its transactional practice. However, Buchanan Ingersoll will also consider adding litigation, bankruptcy and employment lawyers, too, if there is a good opportunity to do so, he says.
The firm currently has about 550 attorneys in states along the East Coast as well as Ohio and California, according to its website.
