Original 'Law & Order' is set to return with new episodes

The original Law & Order TV series will return to NBC for a 21st season, but little is known about the new episodes that will air.
Last week, Wolf Entertainment announced the return of the show but didn’t say when it will return or who will star, report the Hill, Variety and the Hollywood Reporter.
Season 21 “will continue where the show left off in 2010,” according to the announcement. It will continue the classic format in which police pursue leads the first half-hour and prosecutors take over the second half-hour.
Law & Order creator Dick Wolf commented on the series return in the announcement.
“There are very few things in life that are literally dreams come true,” Wolf said. “This is mine.”
The original show resulted in several spinoffs, including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, now in its 23rd season, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Another spinoff, Law & Order: Organized Crime, premiered in April. Yet another spinoff, Law & Order: For the Defense was announced in May, “but it was scrapped over the summer,” according to Variety.
Other shorter-lived spinoffs were Law & Order: Los Angeles, Law & Order: Trial by Jury and Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders.
