Only one of Trump's US Attorney nominees is a woman
President Donald Trump.
President Donald Trump has so far nominated 42 lawyers to fill the spots vacated by U.S. Attorney resignations, including 46 U.S. attorneys asked to step down by Attorney General Jeff Sessions in March.
Only one of the nominees is a woman, BuzzFeed News reports. The female nominee is Jessie Liu, who is nominated to become the U.S. Attorney in Washington, D.C.
Out of former President Barack Obama’s first 42 U.S. Attorney nominees, 12 were women.
Trump’s nominees are also less racially diverse than Obama’s, according to a review of Trump’s first 29 nominees by the American Constitution Society. Twenty-five of Trump’s first 29 nominees were white men.
Trump announced nine new U.S. Attorney nominees Friday.
