A Happy Couple

Since 2017, the Akron Municipal Court in Ohio has helped a number of couples celebrate their love in a unique fashion: hosting Halloween-themed civil wedding ceremonies. The COVID-19 pandemic prevented 2020 celebrations, but every other year has seen couples tying the knot on Halloween. On Oct. 31, 2023, seven couples wed at the Akron Civic Theatre (shown here), and another seven were married at House Three Thirty.

Apart from 2020, when COVID-19 canceled the festivities, it’s been a much-loved annual event. This year, 14 couples chose to make Oct. 31 their wedding anniversary, and the ceremonies were hosted at the Akron Civic Theatre by Judge Ron Cable and at House Three Thirty by Judge Annalisa S. Williams.
