Mattel has unveiled a new Barbie doll that carries a gavel and comes dressed in a black robe with a lace collar.

The “Career of the Year” Barbie for 2019 is a judge, report Above the Law, USA Today and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Mattel, the maker of Barbie, introduces a new career for Barbie each year, focusing on careers where female numbers are lacking.

Mattel decided to unveil the judge dolls after learning that only one-third of sitting state court judges are women, according to Lisa McKnight, senior vice president and global brand general manager of Barbie, who spoke with USA Today.

“Our hope is that girls will enjoy playing with the dolls and imagine themselves protecting the rights of others,” McKnight said.

Barbie has had more than 200 careers. “We like to say, ‘There isn’t a plastic ceiling that Barbie hasn’t broken,’ ” McKnight told USA Today.

The doll costs $12.99 and is available in a variety of skin tones and hairstyles.
