Norton Rose and Chadbourne complete merger
Norton Rose Fulbright and Chadbourne & Parke have completed their merger, creating a law firm with about 4,000 lawyers in 59 offices located in 33 countries.
According to the merger announcement on Friday, the firm will have about 1,000 lawyers in its U.S. practice, including more than 300 in New York and more than 130 in Washington, D.C.
The Chadbourne name won’t be included in the name of the firm, which remains Norton Rose Fulbright.
Earlier this month, Norton Rose Fulbright announced it was “working through the technicalities” of the planned merger after a report said client conflicts had stalled the deal. That announcement also came the same day that a federal judge refused to dismiss a pay discrimination suit against Chadbourne.
Nearly 50 lawyers have left Chadbourne since confirmation of merger discussions, the Am Law Daily (sub. req.) reports. About 273 lawyers have left Norton Rose.
Friday’s announcement means the deal will be completed in the second quarter, as initially planned.
