No Girlfriend Allowed, Defendant Told
A Canadian judge has ordered a 24-year-old man to stay away from intimate relationships for the next three years.
Justice Rhys Morgan said he issued the order to protect the public until the defendant gets counseling for a dependent personality disorder, Associated Press reports.
Morgan sentenced Cranley to the 146 days he had already served in jail for assaulting a former girlfriend after their breakup. Prosecutors say Cranley punched and kicked his girlfriend then stabbed himself when police arrived.
Doctors said Cranley has difficult coping with rejection and has a high risk of repeating his actions if he becomes involved with another woman.
